Food connects people, and connects people to their culture.
I just got to go home for a visit, and my brother made me an amazing meal. I looked over, and on the wall in the kitchen was ... this photo; a reminder of how important food is to us in our family. It was how we connected to our Cuban heritage, cooking with our grandmother and our mom who honored it. A priceless picture of us as kids, making jamón croquetas with our mom, from scratch. There are a million things I could have ended up doing with my life, but helping bring restaurant brands forward that represent cultural diversity is my purpose.
Food is a huge part of every culture.
The act of cooking food for someone? An act of love.
Cooking food with people—truly a bonding moment.
Food can be a bridge between people, fostering cultural understanding.
We could all use a lot more of that right now.
